Disabled Parking Permits
A placard can be issued to an individual or organizations that transport individuals with disabilities. The parking permit entitles the applicant to utilize handicap parking spaces. The placard is transferable to any vehicle transporting the disabled person. The placard is to be hung on the rear view mirror when using the designated parking spaces. Applicants and their physician are required to sign for the permit. A permanent placard is issued to Florida residents at no fee and is valid for 4 years. An updated form from your physician will be required, if the original has been issued for more than a year.
The temporary parking permit will only be issued for the period indicated by a physician, an advanced practice registered nurse, or physician’s assistant, but it may not exceed 6 months from the date of issuance. If the person is still disabled when the temporary parking permit expires, a new application with certification is required. Out of state residents are allowed to obtain Florida parking permits, but they're only valid for up to 3 months at a time. The fee for a temporary parking placard is $15.00.
