An important fiscal responsibility for the Office of the Tax Collector involves work as an agent for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. In this capacity the Tax Collector is responsible for the sale of hunting and fishing licenses, Florida waterfowl stamps, and game management permits, the collection of all monies from these sales, and the maintenance of all records associated with such transactions.
Hunting and Fishing licenses may be purchased at the Tax Collector’s main office in Sebring or at either of the branch offices in Lake Placid or Avon Park.
Regular hunting and fishing licenses may also be purchased directly over the internet from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. A $2.25 + 2.5% surcharge of the total sale per person will be added to your internet purchase. All one year hunting and freshwater fishing licenses are valid for 12 months from the date of issuance. A lost or destroyed one or 5 year license may be replaced for $2.00 per privilege or permit issued on that license. A lost or destroyed lifetime license may be replaced for $10.00.
