Garage Sale Permits can be purchased at all Highlands County Tax Collector’s offices at the following three locations:

Sebring office: 540 S. Commerce Avenue (The Government Center)

Lake Placid office: 11 North Pine Avenue (Directly behind Chamber of Commerce in downtown Lake Placid)

Avon Park office: 116 East Main Street (Next to City Hall)

All three offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

The Highlands County Ordinance provides that garage sales, held in unincorporated areas of Highlands County cannot exceed two (2) in numbers during any twelve (12) month period, not to exceed three (3) days in length. A new permit must be obtained before each sale. The cost of each permit is $5.00.
